Marty's Wedding - North Georgia (Oct 3rd)

The entire MacBride clan made the trek to North Georgia for Uncle Marty's wedding (Jay's best friend from college). He's finally tied the knot and we're very happy for the new Mr & Mrs Marty and Katie Weatherford. It was a great weekend and a good time was had by all. The girls were quite excited about wearing their fancy new dresses. At the wedding reception, we saw Caelyn's metamorphosis to Dancing Queen. We've never experienced this before. She stayed on the dance floor by herself for at least an hour. Somebody mentioned that she gets it from her momma...but I have no idea what they're talking about.

Caelyn turns 4...

Our soon-to-be middle child is now 4 years old. It's hard to believe. It seems like we just brought her home from the hospital in TN. She really is coming out of her shell now that she's taken over her big sister's old preschool campus! She had an understated but special birthday weekend with some visitors (our old neighbors from TN), a party for another friend's birthday, and a trip to Rainforest Cafe. Her party has been postponed twice due to illness, so she'll finally be taking a few friends to the zoo for her belated birthday celebration in a couple weeks. Trouble is...next year, how do we explain that her birthday doesn't really last a month and a half??

Fabulous 4's - May 7th

May 7th was McKinley's end of the year music program. McKinley did a really great job. She had a special part in the Bibbidi-Bobbidi-Boo song. All the kids did marvelously. It was really neat! Funny thing was...the day before...I hadn't even pulled the videocamera out yet. McKinley said "Mommy, you have to take lots of pictures so I can see myself on the television". I said "You mean the computer?" She said "No, the television". A little bit of a vanity issue, but we entertained it for a few days while the superstar came down off her performance high :) It was really fun watching it with her later that night. It's neat how seeing themselves on television amazes them. Self-actualization in progress!

Wedding in Tallahassee - April 18th

We traveled to Tallahassee for one of the prettiest weddings I've seen. It was in a garden setting on an old plantation. I think it is best described as simple elegance. It was stunning. Congratulations Stokes & Joanna! Here are a few pics of the girls with their Wallace family. It was the first we'd seen Aunt Kate since Christmas time. It was a beautiful day.

The other great part of the trip was that we got to stay with my best friend, Melissa (Aunt Melissa) and her husband, Tom (now known as "Puppy" - long story) for the weekend. We had a blast! We went to a art festival Saturday morning, enjoyed some great food, and had a really fun visit. Melissa spoils them - all of us really. Tom is a gifted musician. With a little effort, he had both girls...mostly McKinley (surprise)...playing a guitar kind of thing and singing on the microphone. It was so fun! I can't believe I forgot to take pictures of that. Next time...

Easter 2009

The girls were thrilled to discover that the Easter Bunny follows you where you go, and even delivers to the beach! We had a great, relaxing weekend in St. Augustine at Meme & Poppa's condo. We enjoyed good family time & good beach time. Sunday morning brought us a unique Easter service. Then it was back to the condo for the egg hunt. I must say...there is nothing like hunting eggs with the sound of the ocean in the background. And it would be nice if the girls thought coins were so awesome 5 years from now!

Happy Birthday Jay!

"Be truly glad. There is wonderful joy ahead"
-1 Peter 1:6

"That man is richest whose pleasures are the cheapest"
-Henry David Thoreau

Today is Jay's 32nd birthday. He had a date with all three of his ladies tonight for Wine Wednesday at Bonefish! On his birthday, we're especially grateful for Jay. We pray God blesses him with much wisdom, success, and joy in this next year of life!

Admittedly not the best picture of the girls, but it was the best of Daddy and it was his day! :)

Belated Blog

TThis was a Mommy weekend back in February. Aunt Melissa came into town and Daddy was on "Super Duty". He took the kids camping about an hour away to River Ranch. I haven't been yet, but we plan to go back. They have a petting zoo, rodeo, and even a putt-putt course. Jay even forgave me for forgetting to pack Pull-ups...INCREDIBLE!!! It seems everyone had a great time. Mommy was slightly jealous when they got home and had made the PINK COWGIRL HAT purchase. But the girls had a BLAST! I'm so glad they had a great Daddy weekend!

Beach Day

We enjoyed a great day at Indian Rocks Beach on Saturday. The weather was awesome! The water was still a little cool for my taste, but the girls hardly noticed. We actually had to pull them out to defrost. McKinley had purple lips and chattering teeth. Caelyn, a.k.a. "White Girl" faired okay, less the slightly sunburned under eye circles. The number of kites was AMAZING! It was the perfect wind for it. It's incredible how cool it is just watching them play on the beach. They had such pure joy from just being there.

Playing in the Rain

Sunday brought some much needed rain. We had a lazy morning winding down from all of the festivities of the week. The girls wanted to play in the rain. Conveniently, McKinley got some really cute polka dot rain shoes from her Aunt Ashley & Uncle Ryan for her birthday. Perfect timing! So dressed in their finest PJ's, off they went to play in the rain in the backyard. Lots of fun!

Birthday Bash (March 28th)

We had McKinley's birthday party on Saturday. It was a great & windy day! We had fun chasing balloons and tablecloths and wrapping paper. The kids had a scavenger hunt and some pizza for lunch. Then we had a surprise visit from one of McKinley's classmates' mom and she brought her work vehicle - A FIRE TRUCK! It was a great treat for the kids. Thank you Linda! After blowing out the candles on her Barbie & The Diamond Castle cake, McKinley opened all of her many presents. She is a very lucky girl! We had a great time with family & friends, young & old. It really was an awesome day...

McKinley Turns 5!!! (March 25th)

McKinley turned 5 years old. She has had a week full of celebrations. Wednesday we took cupcakes to school. She got to wear a birthday crown all day and her buddies sang to her. For dinner she asked to go to the "sushi restaurant". (She is her mother's daughter!) I was just as excited as she was. She had "pushing beans" (edamame), soup, and sticky rice. This time she even tried a cooked roll. We had lots of fun. She got to open her presents from Mommy and Daddy. Among the gifts was a Hannah Montana guitar. Oddly enough, she doesn't even get to watch Hannah Montana, but even talking about it on the playground with friends creates the desire. McKinley has been busy performing concerts daily in our living room. Caelyn is the perfect little sister, patiently playing back-up until her big sister sets the guitar down. Then she snatches it up for her own jam session. Headliners go first, right?

Life on the Mound...

Well, it's been a while, but we've been really busy. Attached are some pictures of the girls from their recent t-ball practices & games. It's been a bit more time consuming than we thought, but it really has been lots of fun. McKinley has faired life as a Bulldog well. She has been properly brainwashed and can promptly respond "But I'm a Gator at heart" to any who might question her allegiance. Caelyn is a Flying Tiger (sponsored by a minor league team in our area). She has her first game after Spring Break. We'll play thru April and then hang up the bat bag for a while.

Take me out to the ballgame...

McKinley has started t-ball. The first practice was a little intimidating...for all of us. Up to that point, it had only been about accessorizing...helmet, pants, socks, pink ball bag, girlie bat, and RED cleats. :) But McKinley & Daddy practiced hitting, catching, and throwing a couple times since then. Mommy & McKinley practiced telling the boys "Eat My Dust" for when they watch the only girl on the team lead the pack! Today was their second practice and with a little newfound confidence, it went really well.

Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's Day everyone! Hope everyone is enjoying all the varieties of loved ones today. The girls celebrated this week with their classmates and brought home way too much candy, as expected. They made their own valentine's boxes...works of art if you ask me! This morning we had heart-shaped pancakes, let the girls open a little goodie bag, and enjoyed some coffee on the back porch. We have a date tonight with several other couples and I'm hoping to catch a quick snooze before I have to try to make myself presentable.

The Aftermath...

After a wonderfully BIG Christmas Day, we got the girls to bed, sat on the couch with a beverage, and I couldn't help but take a shot of the aftermath. So blessed!

Christmas Morning

Finally, Christmas had arrived! Amazingly enough, the girls managed to avoid Santa's "Naughty" list. Low and behold...Barbie fishing poles! They even had their names on them. The girls were quite excited, as were we. We've already had fun with them.

Christmas Cookies

Okay, so we're now fast approaching the "Hallmark Holiday" and I'm just now getting the last 2 months...well month and half... of happenings blogged in. Fortunately for those tuning in, I've got a lot to do, I haven't had any wine tonight, and I'm pooped! Below are pictures from baking cookies for neighbors & classmates.
